Job description

McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), clinical track faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor.

We are seeking a team-oriented Clinical Pathologist to join our expanding team. Our affiliated hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, is growing its services to address various medical conditions and challenges. This expansion presents significant career growth opportunities for candidates capable of building strong relationships across units and clinical teams.

Position Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing training to residents, fellows, and medical students, along with developing individual and/or collaborative research programs.
  2. Serving as a role model in professionalism, leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Collaborating with UTHealth Houston, hospital administration, and physicians to identify future opportunities, define departmental service directions, and develop plans to achieve goals.
  4. Engaging in professional growth through seminars, workshops, in-services, literature review, and affiliations to stay current with latest trends, supporting education and research.
  5. Potential future involvement in Autopsy services.

Qualifications:

  1. Texas Medical License or eligibility for a Texas Faculty Temporary License (M.D. or D.O.).
  2. Residency with board certification in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
  3. Experience in Neuropathology and preferred formal fellowship in Neuropathology, with subspecialty experience in at least one area: Molecular, Cardiovascular, Pediatrics, General Surgical Pathology, or Gastrointestinal. The successful candidate will support a growing subspecialized pathology service aligned with UTHealth Houston's clinical and academic missions.
