Job summary

Alameda Health System is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to provide surgical and non-operative care for patients at Highlands Hospital, San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital. Employment is through Alameda Health Medical Group with on-site responsibilities across three facilities.

The ideal candidate will be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, possess a California medical license and a valid DEA number.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) required.
  • Completion of an approved residency in orthopedics.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
  • Valid DEA Number.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, diagnoses and treats diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
  • Orders and interprets musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging tests.
  • Counsels patients in both non-operative and operative modalities to treat Orthopedic pathology.
  • Performs patient evaluation and treatment in both the ambulatory and hospital setting.
  • Supervises and participates in education of APP's, residents and medical trainees.
  • Documents in the electronic medical record accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provides on-call coverage as agreed upon between the bargaining organizations.
  • Maintains continuing medical education based on the requirements of the Orthopedic Board.
  • Upholds the policies and procedures of the medical staff guidelines.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Performs additional tasks as needed to facilitate patient care.
