Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a Research Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine to support biomedical research. You will conduct laboratory experiments, assist with animal and human subjects research, and help analyze data while coordinating with clinicians in the department.

Responsibilities include training, tissue culture, genotyping, sample collection, and assisting with presentations and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in biology/biochemistry research; relevant education may substitute for experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related discipline with minimum one year of animal research experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory experiments including tissue/cell culture, staining, microscopy, Western blotting, DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR, qPCR.
• Assist with transgenic animal genotyping, euthanasia, and tissue collection; support surgical and non-surgical animal procedures.
• Assist with human tissue collection and obtaining informed consents; support data analysis and manuscript preparation.
