Job summary

OrthoNebraska is seeking an Extended Recovery RN to provide high-quality, patient-centered care for post-operative orthopedic patients needing extended recovery or overnight care. You will monitor conditions, manage pain, prevent complications, and encourage early mobility in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, and nurse navigators.

This role requires adherence to safety standards and participation in department meetings and improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Provide care appropriate to the age/weight of patients served.
• Perform technical nursing skills independently to assure patient safety.
• Extensive knowledge of perioperative care and aseptic techniques.
• Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform an initial and ongoing nursing assessment to determine patient care needs.
• Develop and revise the plan of care to address needs for optimum outcomes.
• Implement interventions safely per the plan of care.
• Evaluate patient care to determine response to interventions.
• Maintain professional behavior to achieve the organization's mission.
• Initiate actions to correct or minimize patient risks (falls, needle sticks).
• Comply with safety policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, Joint Commission).
• Participate in performance improvement activities and department meetings.
• Attend mandatory educational programs.
• Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
