Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks an OR Orthopedic Service Line Coordinator to ensure quality patient care for orthopedic surgical patients from neonate to adulthood. The role prepares cases, coordinates instruments and implants, updates preference cards, and collaborates with surgeons to confirm accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or related healthcare field is preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting with six (6) years of CST experience required.
• BLS (CPR) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate preparation of each orthopedic surgical case.
• Coordinate instrument and implant needs, update preference cards.
• Meet with orthopedic surgeons to verify preference cards.
• Participate in orientation and training of scrub technologists and RNs new to the operating room.
• Act as a liaison to all healthcare professionals to solve patient care issues.
• Maintain knowledge and competency in technical skills to raise team performance.
• Apply ANA Standards of Clinical Practice, AORN Standards, and other relevant standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or related healthcare field
