Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics and Spine is seeking an Operating Room RN to provide expert perioperative care in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. You will support circulating and scrub activities, ensure patient safety, and coordinate with surgeons and staff to optimize outcomes.

The role requires 2 years of OR nursing experience, a Colorado RN license, and BCLS/ACLS certification. This PRN on-site position offers hourly pay and opportunities for professional growth in orthopedics.

Qualifications

• 2 years of OR nursing (RN) experience; orthopedic ASC preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; Colorado RN license.
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing the patient’s medical record and surgeon’s notes to ensure all prerequisites and preferences are met.
• Ensures safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times.
• Performs circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field, and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the operating room suite.
• Assists with scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure. Performs surgical counts with the surgical tech/scrub nurse.
• Provides nursing care to a high-acuity surgical patient population in a technically demanding environment.
• Within the scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
