Job summary

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold Michigan licensure, and achieve BLS; ACLS/PALS within 6 months. Prior OR circulating experience and orthopedic scrubbing are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current State of Michigan licensure required.
• BLS certification required, ACLS and PALs certification required within 6 months of hire.
• At least 1 year of Operating Room Circulating experience required.
• Orthopedic experience preferred.
• Scrubbing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and completion of patient charts and records.
• Oversees the activities of surgical technicians in the operating room.
• Before each surgery, ensures necessary equipment and instruments are available.
• Assists the surgical team in scrubbing up and donning sterile gowns and gloves.
• Monitors patient vital signs and reports irregularities to the surgeon and anesthesia providers.
• Ensures the center’s safe surgery checklist is implemented before surgery.
• Maintains instrument and supply inventory during procedures and post-procedure.
• Oversees cleaning of operating rooms between procedures and terminal cleaning after procedures.
• Adheres to center policies and participates in quality improvement programs.
