Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeons in Southfield, MI, seeks an experienced Operating Room Circulating Nurse to join our surgical team. You will prepare patient charts, assist in the OR, ensure equipment readiness, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, Michigan RN license, and BLS; ACLS/PALS within 6 months. Flexible hours: ~0630-1600, 5 eight-hour shifts. E-Verify participation is required.

Qualificações

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• Current State of Michigan licensure required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALs within 6 months of hire.
• At least 1 year of Operating Room Circulating experience.
• Orthopedic experience preferred.
• Scrubbing experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assists the surgical team in scrubbing up and donning sterile gowns and gloves.
• Monitors vital signs and reports irregularities.
• Ensures the safety checklist is implemented in the operating room.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists as needed during procedures.
• Inventory and labeling of tissues for pathology as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and completion of patient charts andrecords.
• Oversees the activities of surgical technicians in the operatingroom.
• Before each surgery, ensures that all necessary equipment and instruments are readily available.
• Assists the surgical team in scrubbing up and donning sterile gowns andgloves.
• Checks patient's vital signs and responsiveness prior to surgery and reports any irregularities to the surgeon and anesthesiaproviders.
• Ensures the Center's safe surgery checklist is implemented in the operating room prior to the start ofsurgery.
• Throughout procedures, monitors the patient's conditions and needs of the surgical team. As necessary, leaves the operating room to gather additional supplies or equipment required by theteam.
• After procedures, inventories all instruments and supplies used during the procedure and oversees needle and sponge counts, reporting any irregularities immediately to thesurgeon.
• Assures that tissues taken for testing are properly prepared and labeled for the Center's pathologylaboratory.
• Oversees cleaning of operating rooms between procedures and terminal cleaning of operatingrooms.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintains familiarity with and abides by the Center's policies andprocedures.
• Supports and participates in the Center's quality improvement program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Reads, speaks, and understands the Englishlanguage.
• Possesses competence and character consistent with the Center's mission and objectives.
• Possesses visual and hearing acuity, with or withoutcorrection.
• Possesses eye-hand coordination to move and operate equipment andinstruments.
• Able to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch and to lift, pull, turn, and ambulate patients up to 20 times perday.
• Can move quickly in crowdedconditions.
• Understands medical terminology and aseptic principles.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Current State of Michigan licensure required
• BLS certification required, ACLS and PALs certification required within 6 months of hire
• At least 1 year of Operating Room Circulating Required
• Orthopedic experience preferred
• Scrubbing experience preferred
