Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Asheboro/Carolinas area clinics to support exam rooms, venipuncture, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing. The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and active MA certification(s).

The position supports physicians and APPs in procedures, patient prep, and test coordination, with a focus on patient comfort and efficient clinic flow.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA required
• Current Medical Assistant certification from CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA variants listed in reqs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting pertinent health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and standard infection control guidelines.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Follows through with referral scheduling and care coordination.
• Communicates with the health care team and patient to ensure smooth clinic flow.
• Performs additional clinical support tasks per competency and supervision.
• Care for patients across age groups per department policies.
