The Medical Assistant supports our orthopedic providers through direct patient care, procedure assistance, documentation, and DME coordination.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred; Athena experience is a plus and training is provided.
- Knowledge of orthopedic terminology is helpful; willing to train.
Responsibilities
- Room patients; obtain vitals, medical history, and medications
- Assist providers with injections, casting, splinting, and minor procedures
- Dispense and fit braces and DME per provider order
- Verify authorizations and ensure signed consents for DME and Visco
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms
- Document patient encounters in Athena EMR
- Coordinate imaging, referrals, and followups
- Participate in training new team members
