Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA is seeking an orthopedic casting technician to join our outpatient clinic team.

You will apply and remove casts and splints from patients from newborns to geriatrics under physician supervision, supporting orthopedic physicians in a professional manner. You may assist with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgeries and fracture reductions.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

Responsibilities

• Apply and remove casts and splints for patients from newborns to geriatrics under physician instruction.
• Support orthopedic physicians in an outpatient clinic setting for casting procedures.
• Assist with orthopedic procedures such as wound care, aspirations, minor surgeries and fracture reductions.
• Work independently under supervision and be evaluated on correction of orthopedic problems.
