Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking an Orthopedic Casting Technician to join our outpatient clinic team.

The role involves applying and removing casts and splints for patients from newborns to geriatrics under physician direction, while supporting orthopedic physicians in casting procedures. The position requires knowledge of anatomy and CPT/ICD-10 coding, the ability to work calmly under pressure, and discretion with patient information.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

Responsibilities

• Apply and remove all types of casts and splints for patients from newborns to geriatrics under physician instruction.
• Support orthopedic physicians in an outpatient clinic setting for casting procedures.
• Assist with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures and fracture reductions.
• Work independently under the general supervision of a physician and be evaluated by correction of orthopedic problems.
