Job summary

Join the UVA Health Orthopedics team as a Clinical Athletic Trainer in a high-volume outpatient setting. You will work closely with orthopedic physicians, APPs, nurses, and other clinicians to provide hands-on care to a diverse patient population.

You will prepare and room patients, take histories, assist with procedures, and deliver patient education while developing specialized orthopedic skills and contributing to clinic workflow improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year Athletic Training experience required.
• Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology/comparable field.
• License/Certification: Athletic Trainer Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC), Licensed Athletic Trainer by the Virginia Department of Health Professionals, BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside orthopedic providers in a busy outpatient setting.
• Prepare and room patients, obtain histories and complete clinical intake, assist with clinic flow and procedures, provide patient education.
• Apply braces/DME, assist with or perform casting and splinting once competency requirements are met, coordinate follow-up needs.
• Develop a close working relationship with assigned providers and become a clinical resource for both provider and patient.
• Support efficient clinic flow and patient readiness while maintaining safety and professional standards.
