Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA seeks an Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Provider to support the Trauma division. The APP will handle post-op and post-discharge follow-up, fracture care, and independent outpatient clinics, working closely with Trauma surgeons.

There is no OR work; includes education for patients and families, wound care, Ilizarov frame management, and care coordination with return-to-work planning.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment.
• National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative and post-discharge follow-up care for orthopaedic trauma patients.
• Manage fracture care and follow-up treatment plans and conduct independent outpatient clinics with trauma surgeons.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education, including psychosocial and recovery considerations.
• Perform wound assessments and manage wound care; Ilizarov frame management and pin-site care.
• Support care coordination, return-to-work planning, and longitudinal trauma recovery management; no OR work.
