Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Community Liaison to serve as a trusted bridge with the Jewish Orthodox community, ensuring culturally sensitive care and a positive patient and family experience within the healthcare setting.

The role focuses on advocacy, education, resource coordination, and feedback collection, with responsibilities including liaison duties with patients, families, and providers, and collaboration with religious accommodations and patient rights

Qualifications

• Experience in community relations, health outreach, or communications within healthcare or nonprofit settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry; capable of multitasking.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with the Jewish Orthodox community to understand needs and concerns.
• Advocate for patients' rights and provide reception and assistance to patients, visitors and guests.
• Provide follow-up and referrals beyond scope as needed.
• Proactively visit lounges and waiting areas to assist with accessing resources.
• Report safety concerns and patient issues to management.
• Coordinate support services including chaplaincy, kosher meals, and religious accommodations.
• Collect and analyze community feedback to identify improvements in patient care and experience.
• Educate patients and families about healthcare processes, treatments, and available resources in a culturally appropriate manner.
• Maintain proficiency with Patient Rights, HCAHPS, and internal regulatory requirements.
