Job summary

Vitanapdp is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care. You will assist during procedures, prepare and sterilize rooms, take impressions and scans, and help manage patient flow and records.

The role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming experience for patients of all ages. Orthodontic experience and state-specific certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior dental assisting experience required (orthodontic experience preferred).
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
• Orthodontic assisting experience or certification (if applicable).
• X-ray certification (as required by state).
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental, etc.) preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc., per state regulations)
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies
