Job summary

Vitana Pediatric & Orthodontic Partners is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care in a Florida practice. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a welcoming patient experience for all ages.

Responsibilities include assisting during procedures, sterilizing instruments, taking impressions/scans/photographs, and educating patients on appliance care.

Qualifications

• Prior dental assisting experience required (orthodontic experience preferred).
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
• Orthodontic assisting experience or certification (if applicable).
• X-ray certification (as required by state).
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental, etc.) preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs.
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc., per state regulations).
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed.
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover.
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
