Job summary

Vitana Pediatric & Orthodontic Partners is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high‑quality patient care. This role requires strong clinical skills and the ability to create a welcoming experience for patients of all ages.

You will assist during procedures, prepare rooms, take impressions and scans, and manage records while upholding OSHA and HIPAA standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Prior dental assisting experience required (orthodontic experience preferred).
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
• X-ray certification as required by state.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs.
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under supervision.
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed.
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and treatment expectations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA and infection control protocols.
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover.
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.

Position Overview

The Orthodontic Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high‑quality patient care. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming and comfortable experience for patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc., per state regulations)
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies
