We are a fast-paced orthodontic practice with multiple locations, seeking a highly motivated Orthodontic Assistant. Applicants should be able to multi-task and work independently. We are seeking team players that are eager to learn and train to be excellent Orthodontic Assistants and willing to put in the time and work necessary to accomplish that goal.

Responsibilities

The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for assisting the orthodontist in clinical and administrative duties, including:

  • Preparing patients for procedures or exams.
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments.
  • Setting up instrument trays and preparing materials.
  • Assisting during dental procedures.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each clinical day engaged and ready to participate in team morning meetings.
  • Ensure that patients have an excellent experience by providing care in a patient-friendly environment, including bringing patients back on time for their scheduled appointments and greeting each patient by name.
  • Get to know the patients and interact with families on an individual level.
  • Serve as chairside clinical assistant, demonstrating proficiency in all areas of orthodontic assisting, including photographs, radiographs (panoramic and lateral cephalogram), digital scanning (iTero), reties, wire changes, initial bracket placement, and bracket repositioning.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in orthodontic language and terminology for typing chart notes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in orthodontic practice management software to schedule next visits and assist the administrative team as needed.
  • Efficiently run clinical chair to see 12-15 patients per day in a timely manner.
  • Provide instructions to patients/parents throughout orthodontic treatment.
  • Assist in instrument sterilization via cold sterile, dry-heat, and autoclave methods.
  • Work with other team members to help the day run smoothly.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the doctor.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience.
  • Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates).
