Job Description
The Orthodontic Assistant will:
- Assist Orthodontists chair-side, greet and escort patients, take radiographs as instructed, set up and break down operatories, clean and stock materials.
- Support front desk operations: schedule appointments, check-in patients, verify demographics, retrieve charts, and document treatment plans.
- Maintain sterilization and equipment in accordance with OSHA and other guidelines.
- Support various orthodontic procedures including banding, adjustments, Invisalign, impressions, and removal of brackets.
- Take intra-oral and extra-oral photographs, and fabricate orthodontic retainers.
- Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and team members regarding treatments and progress.
- Coordinate between orthodontists and general dentists.
- Promote patient incentive initiatives and ensure infection control procedures are followed.
Basic Requirements
- 2-10 years of experience.
- Radiology certification and DPH Dental Assistant License.
- Familiarity with dental software, email, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with study models, X-rays, panorex, cephalometric, digital photography.
- Proficiency in banding, adjustments, Invisalign, and debanding.
- Experience with lab procedures, photography, wire bending, and orthodontic appliance fabrication.
- Strong communication skills with patients and team members.
- Experience with patients with special healthcare needs.
