Job summary

Patuxent Orthodontics in Hollywood, Maryland, is seeking a Part-Time Orthodontic Assistant with X-ray certification. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience, but we are willing to train the right person who is detail-oriented and enjoys teamwork.

This role includes chairside assistance, fabrication of dental appliances, and responsibilities such as sterilization of instruments. We offer an above-average hourly rate, paid holidays, and benefits including health insurance, 401k, and flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as an orthodontic dental assistant.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist chairside and prepare for procedures.
• Fabricate dental appliances such as Essix retainers.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain clinical bays.

Part‑Time Orthodontic Assistant/X‑ray Certification Necessary (possible FT)

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year experience as an orthodontic dental assistant but willing to train the right person who is detailed oriented, a people person, and enjoys working in a team environment! Must have a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to develop a good report with patients and parents.

Must be comfortable with the following duties and have the willingness to obtain following certifications:

• Chairside assistance to orthodontist & preparation of the procedure.
• Comfortable assisting independently with knowledge of bonding, debonds, wire, and bracket placement.
• Fabrication of dental appliances such as Essix retainers.
• Knowledgeable with aligners systems and using Itero machine and 3D printer.
• Confidently speak to patients and parents.
• Responsible for stocking and ordering supplies.
• Sterilization of instruments and clinical bays to turn over for the next patient.
• Cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Knowledgeable with computers, Cloud9 software a plus.
• Currently have Maryland X‑ray Certifications and Expanded Functions Certificate in Orthodontics or must obtain MD Certifications within 6 months of employment.
