Job summary

Carle Health's NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit in a 41-bed unit provides fast-paced, collaborative care from a multidisciplinary team. LPNs support RNs in medication administration, wound care and bedside tasks, across a diverse ortho and urology patient population.

The unit emphasizes patient throughput with short stays and a strong educator and supervisor support, ensuring safety and high-quality care. A $2,500 sign-on bonus for external applicants with 1+ year commitment is available.

Qualifications

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
BLS certification preferred or within 30 days of hire.
Experience with acute ortho/urology surgery care is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Passes all medications and administers IV piggybacks and fluids.
Chart assessments and care plans with RN support.
Coordinate care with physicians/APPs and team for wounds, dressings, and drains.
Provide trach care, NG tube care, and ostomy care as needed.
Reinforce education and discharge instructions for patients and families.
Deliver safe, high-quality care within a fast-paced 41-bed unit.
