Job summary

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Ortho Trauma unit. You will coordinate pre- and post-operative care, support pain management plans and wound care, and manage orthopedic devices such as casts, splints, traction, and external fixation.

You will educate patients and families on their diagnosis, treatment options, mobility and weight-bearing status, and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Current RN license to practice
• Experience in orthopedic trauma care preferred
• Ability to educate patients and families

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre- and post-operative nursing care.
• Support pain management plans and wound care.
• Manage orthopedic devices such as casts, splints, traction, and external fixation.
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, mobility and discharge planning.
• Document accurately in the electronic health record and participate in quality improvement, falls prevention, and infection control initiatives.
• Mentor and support nursing assistants and new team members; delegate tasks appropriately.
• Respond to emergencies with strong clinical judgment.
• Contribute to discharge planning and patient safety initiatives.
