Job summary

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to support the outpatient Joint Reconstruction Service physicians in a reliable, timely, and efficient manner.

The successful candidate will assist in the OR, manage clinic notes and patient logistics, and participate in rounds and case presentations, using HealthBridge and Athena EHR systems to document care.

Qualifications

• PA-C certification required or in good standing.
• Experience in orthopaedics or surgery settings preferred.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support outpatient clinic operations for Joint Reconstruction Service physicians.
• Institute in-house transfer and discharge orders and consults.
• Attend weekly grand rounds and case presentations.
• Position patients in the operating room for procedures.
• Assist residents with paperwork and patient logistics.
• Draft clear clinic notes using templates to improve efficiency.
• Adhere to hospital policies and physician instructions in OR.
• Perform daily inpatient rounds and arrange consults as needed.
• Utilize HealthBridge and Athena EHR systems for documentation.
