Job summary

Coda Search Staffing is recruiting an Originations Associate for a multi-strat asset manager in New York. You will source and analyze CRE loan opportunities, perform due diligence with advanced Excel and Argus, and present analyses to senior management and investment committees.

You will also assist in negotiating term sheets and loan docs, review leases and JV contracts, and build a steady pipeline through broker/developer relationships while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of CRE finance, investment, banking, or brokerage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Finance, Economics, Business or related; advanced degree preferred.
• Credit trained with experience executing CRE transactions.

Responsibilities

• Source, review, analyze, and execute investment opportunities for potential commercial real estate loans.
• Complete due diligence and prepare financial analyses using Excel and Argus.
• Synthesize and present deal analyses and recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
• Assist in preparing and negotiating term sheets and loan documentation.
• Review and abstract lease agreements, JV agreements, and third-party reports.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, developers, and operators to generate deal flow.
• Mentor and assist in training junior originations team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, review, analyze, and execute investment opportunities for potential commercial real estate loans.
• Complete due diligence and prepare comprehensive financial analyses, including evaluation of historical financials, rent rolls, and pro-forma projections, utilizing advanced Excel and Argus models.
• Synthesize and present deal analyses and recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
• Assist in the preparation and negotiation of term sheets and loan documentation for new investment opportunities.
• Review and abstract complex lease agreements, JV agreements, property-level contracts, and third-party reports.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, developers, and operators to generate a consistent pipeline of on and off-market opportunities.
• Mentor and assist in the training of junior members of the originations team.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in Commercial Real Estate finance, investment, banking, or brokerage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• Credit trained and highly experienced in executing Commercial Real Estate transactions.
