Job summary

Specialized Assessment & Consulting seeks a part-time Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS/O&M) to support students with visual impairments at Houston-area campuses. You will provide direct O&M therapy for a caseload of three students, attend ARD meetings, and consult with school staff to promote independence and safety.

This in-person role requires ACVREP certification, a bachelor's degree, and at least two years of COMS experience in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years experience as COMS in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide O&M services to students with visual impairments.
• Attend ARD meetings.
• Consult with school staff to support student mobility and independence.

Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS / O&M Specialist) job for a part time position providing services to qualifying students with visual impairments, attending ARD meetings, and consulting with school staff.

This job is in person at multiple campuses in the Houston, TX area (77087, 77068 and 77081). There are 3 students on the caseload for therapy services and evaluations as needed. This position begins immediately.

Qualifications for O&M Specialist / COMS positions

• Certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of 2 years experience as a Certified O&M Specialist / COMS in a school setting
