Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC in Seattle, WA seeks an itinerant Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time position combines in-person and school-based instruction, with a schedule from about 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM and travel between assigned schools.

You will evaluate students’ mobility needs, teach safe independent travel, collaborate with teachers and families, and document progress in IEPs.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential or applicable state authorization.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in orientation and mobility, visual impairments, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students’ orientation and mobility needs in school and community environments.
  • Provide individualized instruction in safe and independent travel skills.
  • Teach skills involving spatial awareness, sensory efficiency, route planning, and cane use.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor orientation and mobility goals within students’ IEPs.
  • Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, families, educators, and related service providers.
  • Travel between assigned schools and instructional environments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress.
