Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC invites applications for a part-time School-Based Orientation & Mobility Specialist in Tumwater, WA. The role focuses on evaluations, direct instruction, and collaboration to support students with visual impairments in a school setting.

You will work 2 days per week in-person, providing O&M instruction, progress monitoring, and IEP-aligned services while collaborating with educators and families to promote student independence and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate certificate with Special Education endorsement for O&M instruction.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license; First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to pass required background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct O&M evaluations and identify students’ travel needs.
• Teach students to travel safely and independently in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
• Collaborate with teachers of students with visual impairments on functional vision related to travel.
• Provide instruction aligned with each student’s IEP and consult with families and staff.
• Maintain progress notes, evaluation reports, and IEP documentation.
• Provide staff and family training on O&M needs.

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a part-time **Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist** to support students with visual impairments in **Tumwater Washington**.
