Job summary

1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East is seeking a Union Organizer to identify health care and human service workers interested in forming a Union in the Washington, DC area. You will meet workers through one-on-one meetings, leafleting, and small group sessions to discuss union benefits and mobilize action.

• Experience with Healthcare institutions as a Union Organizer, Delegate, or Activist preferred.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities.
• Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
• Good listener.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Bilingual skills a plus.
• Must attend and pass SEIU One Day Training/Screening.

• Participate in Union-wide activities and campaigns.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
