Primary Function:

The primary function of the Organizational Change Management Consultant is to lead and support the strategic direction and execution of change management, communication and readiness efforts across the Epic EHR implementation and integrate them within the ChristianaCare organization. This role involves communicating regularly across impacted stakeholders, managing the scope, schedule, and quality of change, communication, and readiness deliverables, and ensuring that changes and new ways of working that Epic will bring are delivered across the organization.

The OCM Consultant will work closely with Epic OCM Director, Epic leadership team, OCM team and system leaders to guide change management strategies, build and implement change, communication, and readiness plans, manage risks and issues, and build change capability within ChristianaCare in alignment with organizational culture. The OCM Consultant will support the preparation of all impacted collaborators for Epic, aligning leaders and equipping them to engage caregivers, and establishing adoption targets and metrics for the Epic implementation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The OCM consultant will focus on readiness and adoption to drive the success of the Epic implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of organizational change principles, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and align collaborators at all levels.

  • Collaborator management:
    • Leverage and create relationships across clinical and operational department leadership.
    • Demonstrate influence and engagement with senior & executive leadership across the health care system.
    • Leverage existing forums to building awareness and understanding of Epic and design and deploy new forums and engagement opportunities.
  • Readiness planning:
    • Use change impact assessment data to inform readiness strategy.
    • Create and implement readiness plans, identify and mitigate resistance, establish and measure outcomes.
    • Create targeted and tailored plans with specific outcomes for specific audiences including providers & clinicians.
    • Support the build out and deployment of readiness activities for leaders and caregivers as they prepare for new ways of working in Epic.
  • Readiness assessments:
    • Adopt standard process change readiness assessment methodology to deploy Epic readiness assessment across leader and caregiver populations.
    • Evaluate change readiness assessment & caregiver engagement data to align with readiness strategy and plans. Engage leaders in mitigations for populations with demonstrated gaps in readiness.
    • Embed change readiness assessment results into Go-Live Readiness Assessment to provide visibility of change and readiness activities and their impact on readiness.
  • Epic communication campaigns:
    • Support execution of communication campaigns, especially related to senior leaders and Readiness Network members.
    • Advocate for Epic messaging through system-wide, department, and collaborator specific channels (e.g. nursing and providers).
  • Readiness Network management:
    • Launch the readiness network, coordinating activities through regular touchpoints and targeted action planning and monitoring.
    • Lead and facilitate Readiness Network meetings on a regular cadence.
    • Develop channel(s) for Readiness Network members to provide feedback, concerns, and ideas to help enhance the OCM program.
    • Prepare readiness network members for go-live support role.
    • Deploy measurement tool to assess readiness & apply analytics to deploy mitigation strategies

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field required. Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in organizational change management, IT Technology, or IT service delivery. Experience on handling readiness networks preferred.
  • Certification in change management preferred (e.g., Prosci, ACMP).
  • Experience working with large-scale transformation project and in partnership with consulting teams and senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used for change management and communications.
