Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics to process green waste into high-quality compost and mulch. Operate loaders and sorting, grinding, and screening equipment while maintaining safe conditions and adhering to manuals and procedures.

The role requires basic safety literacy, strong communication, and the ability to work with a team, with potential overtime and a focus on producing top-quality organic materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and work area.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Collaborate with team to complete major tasks.
• Grade materials to produce final compost/mulch products.
• Immediately report unsafe equipment or actions to supervision.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
