Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics to process green waste and other organic material using loaders and sorting, grinding, and screening equipment to produce quality compost and mulch.

Essential duties include maintaining safe operating conditions, performing equipment inspections, and collaborating with team members to complete major tasks while ensuring proper material processing and reporting unsafe conditions to supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times.
• Perform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated daily.
• Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfully.
• Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product.
• Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision.
• Work overtime as needed.
