Job summary

McGill Environmental Systems is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator for their facility in Waverly, VA. The role involves operating Liebherr L566 Front-End Loaders, Hyundai HL655 Front-End Loaders, Volvo EC200E excavators, Bobcat skid steers, and other heavy machinery to transform organic waste into compost, mulch, and soil products.

The position requires experience with heavy equipment, a High School Diploma or GED, willingness to work outdoors, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment as listed above.
• Experience in composting, recycling, agriculture, construction, landscaping, forestry, or material processing is a plus.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled conditions.
• Reliable transportation to the Waverly, VA facility.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, grinders, and screening equipment.
• Load, move, blend, and process organic materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks.
• Identify and report equipment issues before they become major problems.
• Transport materials safely throughout the facility.
• Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements.
• Support production goals while maintaining product quality standards.
• Work independently while contributing to a strong team environment.
