Job summary

Garden State Laboratories, Inc. in Hillside, NJ is seeking a full-time Laboratory Analyst reporting to the Organics Manager.

The analyst will perform environmental testing on drinking water, wastewater and solid wastes using EPA, NJDEP and Standard Methods, following SOPs and holding times. Responsibilities include logging samples, maintaining supplies and logs, calibrating instruments, and performing analyses with proper QA/QC practices.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in science preferred but not required.
• Laboratory experience in Organic techniques preferred.
• Garden State Laboratories provides training to all new hires.

Responsibilities

• Maintain log(s) of all samples received in the lab for assigned parameters for analysis.
• Make sure all necessary supplies required for the assigned tests are in stock and current.
• Maintain and update all logbooks associated with the assigned analytical procedures.
• Ensure that all instruments and equipment used for sample analysis are calibrated and in good working order prior to any sample analysis.
• Prepare and perform sample analysis utilizing assigned instruments using current and approved SOPs and within regulatory holding times.
• Perform routine maintenance of instruments and equipment as assigned.
• Conform to all GSL QA/QC practices.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for self and other lab employees as required by GSL health and safety guidelines.
• Notify management of any conditions that may adversely affect the suitability or validity of the requested analysis.
• Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor or manager to accommodate short-term departmental needs.
