Job summary

The University of Maine seeks an Organic Chemistry Laboratory Manager and Teaching Associate to prepare supplies for organic chemistry laboratories, maintain the prep room and inventories, and manage waste. Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required

• BS degree in chemistry.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of organic experimental laboratory techniques, chemical safety procedures, and handling hazardous waste.
• Familiaritywith standard software (e.g., Chemdraw, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Learning Management Systems) and demonstrated ability to learn new software.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred

• Master’s degree in chemistry or closely related discipline.
• Teaching experience, especially withteaching organic chemistry at the college level.
• Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting instrumentation.
• Demonstrated skills in training students in the operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Demonstrated skills in exercising independent judgement and initiative to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
