Job summary

United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) is seeking an Organ Placement Specialist I to support 24/7 organ allocation coordination, donor/recipient matching, and transport logistics. You will document donor profiles, update transplant teams, and run organ match data while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The role requires strong communication, accuracy under pressure, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

4-year degree in Science, IT, Healthcare or related field.
Entry-level experience in transplantation, information technology, customer service, or health care.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts including weekends, holidays and on call responsibilities.
Must communicate effectively under high stress and maintain accuracy.
Experience with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Coordinate organ placement and transportation per OPTN/UNOS policies.
Document donor profiles, lab values, serologies, hemodynamics, and organ reports to teams.
Update transplant teams with new donor information as it occurs.
Provide accurate organ match runs to Organ Procurement Organizations.
Assist with IT troubleshooting for UNOS applications and data entry for logs.
Maintain waiting list and audit-related documentation for compliance.
Participate in quality assurance projects and general office duties.
