Summary

The Organ Operations Coordinator assesses all donor referrals, is responsible for importing organs, transportation of organ, organ allocation, potential donor EMR review and documentation in the donor EMR.

  • Responsibilities or the Referral Operations Coordinator.
  • Answers and dispatches calls from all existing and target markets to appropriate organ/tissue/eye donation specialists.
  • Assesses and inputs donor eligibility into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • In put referral information in to the SHSC EMR including past medical history, current and past labs, hospital goals of care, diagnostic test, and hemodynamics.
  • Communicates eligible organ referrals and registry status to Organ Administrator On Call (OAOC).
  • With the guidance of the OAOC and Medical Director, help determine donor suitability.
  • Allocates organs (renal and extra-renal) per OPTN and SHSC policy utilizing the UNET allocation system.
  • Will assist quality department with communication to UNOS regarding policy discrepancies.
  • Monitor organs during mechanical perfusion and document the information in the EMR.
  • Facilitates organ and team transport.
  • Confirms and documents the arrival of organs to the accepting center.
  • Resolves communication issues and/or notifies appropriate staff.
  • Provides exemplary customer service.
  • Works rotating day/night shifts as determined by operational necessity,
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
