Job summary

Rio Tinto Borates is seeking an ore control geologist to support daily ore planning and production activities. This role monitors ore quality parameters and ensures quality requirements are met to provide a consistent ore feed to processing plants.

Reporting to the Sr Geologist, you will develop short term o re mine plans, coordinate with Operations and Plant teams, and track dig maps and assay results to drive continuous improvement in ore quality and production performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in geology or related Earth Sciences discipline.
1-4 years of relevant experience in an active mining setting.
Sound understanding of mining and geologic concepts and principles.
Database management experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto safety standards and perform safety verifications.
Formulate short term ore mine plans (weekly to monthly) aligned with longer term plans.
Communicate ore mine plans with Mine Operations Supervisors and Plant personnel.
Record ore dig maps with tonnage and grade to be mined.
Coordinate with onsite laboratory for sampling and assay results.
Create ore blend plans to meet plant grade targets and maintain quality.
