Job summary
Technical Professionals Group, LLC is seeking a Chief Geologist to lead all mine-site geological activities for a high-tonnage open-pit copper operation. You will drive short-range grade control, ore routing, and geometallurgical domaining while collaborating with corporate technical teams and mine planning.
This role emphasizes safety, environmental stewardship, and cross-functional teamwork with Operations and Metallurgy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering required; MS in Economic Geology preferred.
- Minimum 8 years in open-pit mine geology for copper operations; 10+ years and leadership preferred.
- Deep understanding of porphyry-skarn copper systems and geometallurgical implications for flotation.
- Proficiency in Leapfrog Geo and geological modeling; experience with mapping and drill data; familiarity with acQuire, Hexagon MinePlan/MineSight, ArcGIS/QGIS.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Mine Geology and Ore Control teams to ensure training, competency, and high-performance culture.
- Oversee daily geological mapping, sampling, and logging for ore control and reconciliation.
- Own short-range ore control and QAQC processes; generate grade control models and differentiate mill vs. blend vs. waste.
- Integrate pit mapping, drilling, and survey data into 3-D models for dispatch and plans; support Mine to Mill strategies.
