Responsibilities

• Transports patients from bed to stretcher and stretcher to bed, assisting in lifting and positioning.
• Communicates patient status and any issues to the care team promptly.
• Obtains stock supplies and equipment for designated areas and maintains par levels.
• Ensures proper patient identification and universal protocol before transport.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA rules.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the department.

Job Overview

The Orderly is responsible for assisting in maintaining maximum work. This position is responsible for ensuring the proper transporting of different testing areas and blood specimens to the lab and to ensure daily living and providing care for patients. Also, assist with maintaining the patient care areas around the Emergency Room and equipment in a clean and organized manner.

Essential Functions

• Assists staff in transportation of patients from bed to stretcher and from stretcher to bed, assists in lifting and positioning of patients. Prepares/assists patient for discharge
• Communicates / reports pertinent information, patient complaints, problems and any untoward signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate patient care provider.
• Assists staff in obtaining stock supplies and equipment for each designated area/room. Maintains/adjusts par levels of supplies, linen, blankets, solutions as demand increases or decreases.
• Demonstrates the ability to transport patients to and from all units within the hospital environment. Follows hospital policy and procedures in identification of patient. (universal protocol)
• Maintains a safe and uncluttered environment which conforms to established OSHA rules and regulations.
• Performs all other duties assigned
