Job Overview

The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and supplying patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Medical Center objectives.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of general and department‑specific orientation
• High School Diploma (preferred)
• Previous hospital housekeeping experience (preferred)

Scheduling Requirements

• Status: Full Time
• Shift: Evening (3:00pm‑11:00pm)
• Weekend and holiday coverage required

Essential Functions

• Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs
• Assist in cleaning emergency spills observed or upon request
• Maintain housekeeping closet and par levels
• Collect and transport all waste, including RMW, according to policy
• Compact trash or place in containers
• Damp buff and shampoo carpets with approved equipment
• Dry and wet mop floors of rooms and offices
• Dust, mop, and wet mop corridors, stairwells, and other common areas
• Empty waste receptacles and remove trash
• Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report repairs when needed
• Observe and report the need to repair equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures
• Perform patient discharge cleaning using a 7‑step cleaning procedure
• Refill paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and toilet seat dispensers
• Ensure all patient rooms are patient ready at all times, including placement of tent card, toilet seat band, and privacy curtains
