Picking Position Summary:

Identifying, selecting, and preparing lumber and building materials to fulfill customer orders for delivery or pick-up both manually and with the use of a forklift.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Accurately select, assemble, stage, and label orders according to customer and company specifications, verifying the correct quantity of items are selected.
2. Inspect materials for any defects or damage prior to loading on trucks for shipment, and promptly communicate any issues to management.
3. Assist in placing orders in customers' vehicles, company vehicles, or trailers.
4. Complete “pick tickets” timely and accurately.
5. Maintain an organized and clean warehouse area.
6. Assist in inventory and cycle counting processes as required.
7. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials, minimizing the risk of accidents or injuries.
8. May also assist or perform duties of Receiving Specialist.
9. Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

Receiving Position Summary:

Receives, verifies, and inspects incoming shipments of lumber and other building materials.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Receive incoming shipments of lumber and building materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness by reconciling with internal purchase orders.
2. Inspect received materials for damage, quality issues, and report concerns to Operations management.
3. Record and update inventory levels in the system, maintaining accurate records of received materials.
4. Organize and store received materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring efficient space utilization and easy access.
5. Coordinate with Purchasing to resolve shipment discrepancies or issues.
6. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
7. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
8. Participate in periodic inventory counts and audits as required.
9. May also assist or perform duties of Receiving Specialist.
10. Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Formal Training:

• High School Diploma / GED

Work Experience:

• Ability to operate a forklift safely and appropriately.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment, preferably in the lumber and building materials industry.
