Job summary

Beech-Nut Nutrition Company in Amsterdam, NY is seeking an Order Picker for the first shift, Tuesday–Friday 6:00 am–4:30 pm. You will report to the Shipping Supervisor and prepare orders for shipment to customers, working with the shipping department and other warehouse staff.

This union-position role requires joining the BCTGM Local 53 after a 60-day probation. The site is LEED-certified and located at the Amsterdam facility, where safety gear and food manufacturing standards apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills required (e.g., typing).
• Ability to read and write in English language required.
• Experience in light industrial or warehousing preferred.
• Experience using warehouse systems (SAP, Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Safely operate equipment (forklift, pallet jack) and inspect before use.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually.
• Operate power equipment, such as pallet jacks to assemble customer orders with accuracy.
• Move product through vertical racking and flow racking, shrink wrapping pallets and loading trucks.
• Use scanning equipment or complete manual entries to ensure accurate and timely tracking of inventory.
• Keep warehouse clean and organized to ensure a safe work environment.
• Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Support general housekeeping and sanitation within the work area.
• Ship and label small parcel shipments for daily pickup by FedEx/UPS.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

About the Role…

As an Order Picker, you will report directly to the Shipping Supervisor and will be responsible for the creation of orders for shipment direct to customers. You will work closely with the shipping department and other warehouse material handlers to move finished product throughout the process. This is a first shift position. Hours are estimated to be Tuesday– Friday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.

This position is a union position and after completing a 60-day probationary period, must join to become a member of the Baker’s Confectionary Tobacco Grain Milling (BCTGM) Union, Local 53.

About the Work Environment…

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. The candidate will also be required to work in a food manufacturing environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and uniform. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks.

What You’ll Do…

• Safely operate equipment (sit down/stand up forklift, pallet jack, etc.) to accomplish job tasks and performs equipment inspections prior to use
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually.
• Operate power equipment, such as pallet jacks to assemble customer orders with accuracy
• Move product throughout vertical racking and flow racking, shrink wrapping pallets and loading trucks
• Use scanning equipment or complete manual entries to ensure accurate and timely tracking of inventory. This includes processing accurate incoming receipts and outgoing shipments.
• Keep warehouse clean and organized to ensure a safe work environment
• Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories
• Support general housekeeping and sanitation within the work area
• Ship and label small parcel shipments for daily pick up by FedEx/UPS
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Rate of Pay: $22.75 per hour, overtime calculated daily, pay is weekly.
