Beech-Nut Nutrition Company in Amsterdam, NY invites applications for the Summer 2027 Food Safety & Quality Intern position. This paid internship runs 10-12 weeks and focuses on food safety research such as metals in root vegetables, phytonutrients, and soil amendments.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a current full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the US for the entire duration of the internship.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) with above average Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• The Food Safety & Quality Internship (Summer 2027) is a 10-12-week paid assignment.
• Support on food safety research projects including heavy metals in root vegetables, phytonutrients in fruits and vegetables, and soil amendments for root vegetables.
• Update our knowledge to support optimizing our food safety plan by reading current literature and reviewing Federal and State regulations.
• Provide real-world experience to support professional development and opportunities to interact with various departments.
• Engage in roundtable discussions, corporate meetings, networking events and community activities.
• Value-added assignments with interaction across departments to acquire relevant skills.
• Focus on projects in support of product testing, data analytics and new product innovation.
• Potential for internship to lead to full-time employment after graduation.

What You’ll Do This Summer...

• The Food Safety & Quality Internship (Summer 2027) is a 10-12-week paid assignment.
• This intern will provide support on a variety of food safety research projects including:
  • Heavy metals in root vegetables

  • Assessing soil amendments for root vegetables

About the Quality Assurance Team...

The Quality Assurance Team is diverse in knowledge and experience and are responsible for ensuring that Beech-Nut's products meet the highest standards for food safety and quality. This team takes pride in, and responsibility in partnering with our Strategic Sourcing, Operations and Technical Services Teams to ensure the ingredients sourced and processed have passed our testing standards and expectations. This is a hands-on, collaborative team that is energetic and passionate about making sure we continue to do what we do best - making high quality, safe, and nutritious foods for babies and toddlers!

About the Work Environment...

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. Most job functions are performed in a well-lit, environmentally controlled office environment. The candidate will also be required to work in an environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection and lab coat. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks.
