Job summary

Gunton Corporation seeks a senior logistics leader to oversee the entire range of logistics, warehousing, production value add and pre-finish. You will formulate and implement policies and an order fulfillment strategy to ensure timely distribution at a cost-effective level.

Responsibilities include directing labor, managing warehousing and value-add functions, and driving continuous improvement programs while coordinating with other managers and the Customer Support Team to improve CSR scores.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; five years related experience preferred.
• Experience managing in a union environment is preferred.
• Construction industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct an efficient labor force to meet company objectives and direct logistics, warehousing, conversion, and pre-finish within budgetary guidelines.
• Develops and implements programs, policies and procedures to support total customer satisfaction.
• Manage warehousing, delivery and value-add functions including materials management, production control, production methods, quality control, plant organization, maintenance, safety, and security.
• Handle complex customer service issues related to value add, warehousing, and delivery.
• Establish training programs and ensure employees participate in them.
• Develop and communicate business metrics tracking order fulfillment performance and cost/quality benchmarks.
• Lead efforts to reduce operating cost, improve productivity, and achieve budgets.
• Coordinate with other divisions for critical order fulfillment situations.

Job description

Oversee and direct the entire range of Logistics, Warehousing, Production (value add) and PreFinish within the division. Formulate, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs in the area of responsibility as governed by Company policy. Develops and implements an Order Fulfillment strategy that provides timely distribution of products in a cost effective manner. Promotes and coordinates processes and procedures that results in overall improvement of productivity and efficiency. Collaborates with the other department managers to plan and coordinate effective continuous improvement programs and events.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, organize, and direct an efficient labor force to meet company objectives, and direct the logistics, warehousing, conversion, and pre-finish functions within budgetary guidelines by implementing cost control programs.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.
• Manage all aspects of warehousing, delivery and value add functions including materials management, production control, production methods, quality control, plant organization, maintenance, safety, and security.
• Handle complex customer service issues as it relates to value add, warehousing, and delivery.
• Establish and/or implement ongoing training programs for all areas of responsibility. Make certain that employees take advantage of existing programs.
• Develop and communicate business metrics that track order fulfillment processes and activities. Wherever possible, tangible measures of time, cost and quality should be established including benchmarking with other PDSN distributors.
• Leads efforts to reduce operating cost, improve productivity, and lower overall cost per unit. Establishes and achieves variable operating budgets.
• Develops, documents and implements new processes.
• Collaborates in the development of third party relationships.
• Coordinates with the Customer Support Team and the organization to improve CSR scores related to all order fulfillment activity.
• Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Coordinate with other divisions when critical order fulfillment situations arise.
• Perform other related tasks as required or assigned by the Operations Manager.

• Construction industry experience

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S) from a four-year college or university; minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
