Job summary

Metallus Inc. is seeking an Order Entry Professional I to manage long-length customer purchase orders from intake to Sales Order placement. You will enter Metallus Sales Orders in SAP and coordinate order quotes while maintaining product master data.

Collaborating with Production Planning and Supply Chain, you will ensure feasible delivery commitments and timely customer communication, balancing speed with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in a customer support role is required or equivalent experience.
• Ability to learn product catalog and order processes quickly.
• Experience with ERP systems and data integrity practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end order entry for long-length orders, including EDI.
• Enter quotes and maintain product master data; collaborate with planning to set feasible delivery dates.
• Verify orders against customer PO terms; process pick-up and return orders as needed.
• Maintain data integrity and support continuous improvement in order processes.

Purpose

The Order Entry Professional I is responsible for the management of long-length customer purchase orders from order intake through the placement of a Sales Order. Key tasks include the entry of Metallus Sales Orders in SAP, the coordination of order pending quotes, and the management of product master data. Additionally, this role partners with Production Planning to align delivery commitments with operational feasibility. By connecting Commercial, Customer Requirements Engineering, and Supply Chain, this position enables timely, accurate entry of the Sales Order and responsive communication back to the customer.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end order entry process for long-length purchase orders, from order intake through the placement of a Sales Order. Includes the processing of purchase orders received through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
• Understand the Product Catalog to support the timely and accurate entry of order pending quotes in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Partner with Product Planning to understand manufacturing flows, enabling the assignment of feasible delivery dates and the identification of potential bottleneck during order entry.
• Execute a contract review process to validate the Sales Order accurately captures the agreed upon product offering, quantity, delivery date, and payment terms defined on the customer purchase order.
• Collaborate with internal business partners to input pick-up and return good orders.
• Ensure data integrity by facilitating workflow updates for specifications, customer detail sheet, and non-C-Status ZCMIRs.
• Leverage best practices and identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement with an emphasis on process efficiencies to enhance Metallus’ service to customers.
• Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners to share information, support common goals, and contribute to collaborative decision making.
• Display urgency and ownership in addressing expedited requirements and reprioritization, balancing speed with data integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least five years of experience in customer support role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates Degree with at least two years ofexperience in a customer support role.
• Bachelors Degree with no previous experience.
