The Greece Central School District is seeking an Orchestra / General Music Long Term Substitute Teacher to lead 4th and 5th grade string orchestras and teach general music at Buckman Heights Elementary School for the 2026-2027 year.

Applicants must hold NYS Certification in Music and demonstrate knowledge of NYS Music Standards, with strong communication, collaboration, and a commitment to professional growth. Fingerprinting and NYSED clearance are required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Direct 4th and 5th grade string orchestras.
• Teach lessons on all string instruments.
• Teach general music classes.
• Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with the GCSD Arts Curriculum and NYS Music Learning Standards, utilizing diverse teaching methods to accommodate varied learning styles.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence-based interventions as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and growth areas.
• Stay current with best practices in music education and engage in continuous professional development.
• Participate in evening concerts as well as district, county, and state-wide music festivals, as applicable.
