Job summary

Greece Central School District in Greece, NY is seeking a team-oriented music program assistant to support high school band operations. This GTA role focuses on sectional instruction and assisting with music and marching techniques, with evening rehearsals Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and all-day Saturday performances from November through March.

You will work under the director, help with payroll and logistics, and contribute to maintaining the standard of the marching program.

Qualifications

• Background in field band and/or drum & bugle corps.
• Knowledge of marching arts and ability to assist with music instruction and marching techniques.

Responsibilities

• Attend and assist in all evening rehearsals.
• Attend and assist with all Saturday performances.
• Assist the director with payroll, facilities planning, and transportation information.
• Support the director in providing information to the GMB Program Coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the director.
• Stipend of $2,700 per GTA contract; adjust if availability changes.

Minimum Requirements

• Background in field band and/or drum & bugle corps.
• Working knowledge of all aspects of the marching arts (winds, percussion, colorguard, marching, etc.) and ability to assume responsibility for sectional instruction, as well as assisting with music instruction and marching techniques

• Background in field band and/or drum & bugle corps.

• Experience working with middle and/or high school students
• Ability to work well on a team and to be well spoken in front of the band/parents/community
• Highly organized and task oriented
• Committed to sustaining the caliber and standard of existing program

Leadership Experience Required

• Teacher certification preferred

Position Summary/Responsibilities
