Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant to join a fast-paced team near the Greater Richmond area. You will provide compassionate patient care before, during, and after procedures and assist with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.

Responsibilities include taking digital x-rays, documenting charts, preparing surgical rooms and trays, and maintaining instrument sterilization. A minimum of 1 year of dental assisting is required; CPR is a plus.

Qualifications

• One year of dental assisting or surgery tech experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles.
• Understanding of HIPAA.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical/dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.
