Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking an Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team in Midlothian, VA. You will provide compassionate patient care before, during, and after procedures and assist surgeons with evaluations, surgeries, and post‑op visits.

Qualifications include at least 1 year of dental assisting or surgical tech experience, knowledge of sterilization principles and HIPAA, with CPR preferred. The role requires lifting, standing, and collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

• Familiar with anatomy and medical/dental terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What It Takes:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist with sedated patients.
• Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
